The 2022 Two Day Festival

In a corner of the vast cosmos, on a planet known as Earth, I, an alien visitor, embarked on a journey to witness the peculiar and enchanting customs of its inhabitants.

Friday:

Upon my arrival on this curious orb, I observed the activities of the Earthlings with fascination. A being named Jimmy Mallico dropped off an oddly shaped contraption that they referred to as a “trailer” early in the evening. It seemed to serve as a container for various objects. Richard, another Earth dweller, then embarked on an unusual endeavor: cutting and preparing a material known as “wood” for what they called a “dangling drum riser.” He was assisted by five of his fellow beings from the back. The concept of teamwork appeared to be significant among these Earthlings.

As twilight descended, Richard had successfully completed the setup of the mysterious drum riser. It appeared to be a platform of significance to them.

Saturday:

The following Earth-day was marked by a flurry of activity. Two individuals, Rodney and Shannon, soon joined the scene, assisting in adorning a structure that they referred to as a “stage.” They also erected what they described as “tents.” Another being named Manny arrived, seemingly tasked with procuring what they called “rugs” for the stage.

Vendors, who appeared to be traders of various goods, arrived promptly and arranged their wares. Joe Corano, a specialist in sound, took his time setting up complex sound-producing equipment. Mark, an entertainer, arrived punctually for his first performance.

A group known as CTGDAS faced a minor delay in their schedule but worked diligently to maintain the event’s timing. Earthlings seemed to value punctuality.

As evening descended, the atmosphere was filled with harmonious vibrations. It was evident that music held great significance to these creatures. At 7 pm, the deconstruction phase commenced, involving the relocation of the enigmatic drum riser onto Jimmy Mallico’s trailer.

Notably, Rodney, Shannon, and Manny remained at the site until the very end, ensuring meticulous completion of their tasks. Manny and a group of young beings known as “grandboys” even contributed to cleaning, collecting what they called “empty cans” and “garbage.”

As nightfall embraced the Earth, Jimmy Mallico returned to move the stage to a location known as the “Bridgeport Flyer.” It was during this time that I had the unique opportunity to witness Earthlings indulging in what they referred to as “getting drunk.”

Sunday:

With the dawn of a new Earth-day, Rodney and Shannon once again emerged, exhibiting impressive speed in the decoration of the stage and erection of tents, completing these tasks in a mere 25 minutes.

A fortuitous encounter transpired when two beings, Raul and Inelda, offered to fetch elongated electrical conduits, referred to as “long extension cords.” This assistance was vital for the Earthlings’ operations. These cords were set up just moments before they were required by Joe Corano, the sound expert.

While waiting for parking spaces to become available for the vendors, the Earthlings gathered around in anticipation. The band arrived punctually, and the event commenced precisely at 3 pm. An individual named Tom from Dockside Brewery brought a unique beverage referred to as a “slushy Tequila drink,” which was shared among the attendees, fostering an atmosphere of camaraderie.

In a surprising turn of events, an individual named Adam offered the use of his vehicle to transport the stage back to a place called “the store.” This offer was gratefully accepted. Rodney, Shannon, Kat, and Evan remained at the scene until the very end, ensuring that all tasks were carried out meticulously.

Monday:

As the Earth-day came to a close, Jimmy Mallico returned once more, this time to retrieve the enigmatic trailer. It marked the conclusion of my observation of this extraordinary weekend.

From an alien’s perspective, Earth and its inhabitants were a tapestry of curious customs, intricate cooperation, and moments of celebration. The experience left me with a deep appreciation for the diversity and unity of this peculiar planet called Earth.
